What is CVE-2012-1150?
CVE-2012-1150 is a medium-severity denial of service vulnerability in Python Python, published on 5 Oct 2012. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Official description
Python before 2.6.8, 2.7.x before 2.7.3, 3.x before 3.1.5, and 3.2.x before 3.2.3 computes hash values without restricting the ability to trigger hash collisions predictably, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) via crafted input to an application that maintains a hash table.
Weakness: CWE-310
Which versions are affected by CVE-2012-1150?
It affects 1 product.
Products include Python Python.
How do I fix CVE-2012-1150?
Upgrade to a fixed version.
Upgrade, then put limits on request size, rate and nesting depth so one client cannot exhaust the service. More about Denial of service.
Is CVE-2012-1150 being exploited?
There is no known exploitation of CVE-2012-1150 in the wild and no public exploit code.
