## What is CVE-2017-2666?

CVE-2017-2666 is a medium-severity cross-site scripting vulnerability in Debian Debian Linux, published on 27 Jul 2018. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

It was discovered in Undertow that the code that parsed the HTTP request line permitted invalid characters. This could be exploited, in conjunction with a proxy that also permitted the invalid characters but with a different interpretation, to inject data into the HTTP response. By manipulating the HTTP response the attacker could poison a web-cache, perform an XSS attack, or obtain sensitive information from requests other than their own.

Weakness: CWE-444 (Inconsistent Interpretation of HTTP Requests)

Check this codebase for CVE-2017-2666 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2017-2666 is a medium-severity cross-site scripting vulnerability in Debian Debian Linux, published on 27 Jul 2018. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2017-2666 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- io.undertow:undertow-core (Maven): affected all versions; fixed in 1.3.31
- io.undertow:undertow-core (Maven): affected all versions; fixed in 1.3.31
- io.undertow:undertow-core (Maven): affected from 1.4.0; fixed in 1.4.17
- io.undertow:undertow-core (Maven): affected from 1.4.0; fixed in 1.4.17

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
