An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim."},"fix_prompt":"Check this codebase for CVE-2020-3284 and fix it if it is affected.\n\nWhat it is: CVE-2020-3284 is a high-severity code injection vulnerability in Cisco Ios Xr, published on 6 Nov 2020. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2020-3284 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected product: Cisco Ios Xr. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2020-3284/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2020-3284/index.md)","id":"CVE-2020-3284","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2020-3284/index.md","name":"CVE-2020-3284","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-5xjq-f58j-4hph"],"analysis":{"component_type":"network_device","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["code_execution"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Cisco IOS XR","requires_auth":"none","summary":"An unauthenticated remote attacker can execute unsigned code on Cisco IOS XR devices by compromising or impersonating the PXE boot server during the boot process.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"code_injection"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"cisco","cpe":[{"product":"a99-rp2-se_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a99-rp2-tr_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a99-rp3-se_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a99-rp3-tr_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a99-rsp-se_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a99-rsp-tr_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a9k-rsp5-se_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a9k-rsp5-tr_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a9k-rsp880-lt-se_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a9k-rsp880-lt-tr_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a9k-rsp880-se_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"a9k-rsp880-tr_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"asr-9901-rp_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ios_xr","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"n540-12z20g-sys-a\\/d_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"n540-24z8q2c-m_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"n540-28z4c-sys-a\\/d_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"n540-acc-sys_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"n540x-12z16g-sys-a\\/d_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"n540x-16z4g8q2c-a\\/d_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"n560-4-sys_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"n560-7-sys_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"nc55-rp-e_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"nc55-rp_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-5501-se_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-5501_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-5502-se_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-5502_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-55a1-24h_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-55a1-24q6h-s_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-55a1-36h-s_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-55a1-36h-se-s_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-55a2-mod-hd-s_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-55a2-mod-hx-s_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-55a2-mod-s_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-55a2-mod-se-h-s_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs-55a2-mod-se-s_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs1001_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs1002_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs1004_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs5001_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs5002_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs5011_firmware","vendor":"cisco"},{"product":"ncs55-a1-48q6h_firmware","vendor":"cisco"}],"cvss":{"score":8.1,"severity":"high","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","version":"3.0"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-284","name":"Improper Access Control"}],"description":"A vulnerability in the enhanced Preboot eXecution Environment (PXE) boot loader for Cisco IOS XR 64-bit Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute unsigned code during the PXE boot process on an affected device. The PXE boot loader is part of the BIOS and runs over the management interface of hardware platforms that are running Cisco IOS XR Software only. The vulnerability exists because internal commands that are issued when the PXE network boot process is loading a software image are not properly verified. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by compromising the PXE boot server and replacing a valid software image with a malicious one. Alternatively, the attacker could impersonate the PXE boot server and send a PXE boot reply with a malicious file. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute unsigned code on the affected device. Note: To fix this vulnerability, both the Cisco IOS XR Software and the BIOS must be upgraded. The BIOS code is included in Cisco IOS XR Software but might require additional installation steps. For further information, see the Fixed Software section of this advisory.","ecosystems":[],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":null,"headline":"Cisco IOS XR Software Enhanced Preboot eXecution Environment Unsigned Code Execution Vulnerability","id":"CVE-2020-3284","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":null,"product":"cisco:ios_xr","products":["cisco:ios_xr"],"type":"code_injection","year":"2020"},"n_packages":0,"n_references":1,"next":{"headline":"Cisco Firepower Threat Defense Software SSL/TLS URL Category Bypass Vulnerability","id":"CVE-2020-3285"},"packages":[],"prev":{"headline":"Cisco Firepower 1000 Series SSL/TLS Denial of Service Vulnerability","id":"CVE-2020-3283"},"products":["Cisco IOS XR Software"],"published":"2020-11-06","related":[],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"no","exploitation":"none","technical_impact":"total"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2024-11-13","vendors":["Cisco"]},"summary":"An unauthenticated remote attacker can execute unsigned code on Cisco IOS XR devices by compromising or impersonating the PXE boot server during the boot process.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2020-3284/"}
