## What is CVE-2021-25735?

CVE-2021-25735 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Kubernetes Kubernetes, published on 6 Sep 2021. An attacker needs administrator access to exploit it, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

A security issue was discovered in kube-apiserver that could allow node updates to bypass a Validating Admission Webhook. Clusters are only affected by this vulnerability if they run a Validating Admission Webhook for Nodes that denies admission based at least partially on the old state of the Node object. Validating Admission Webhook does not observe some previous fields.

Weakness: CWE-372 (Incomplete Internal State Distinction)

Check this codebase for CVE-2021-25735 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2021-25735 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Kubernetes Kubernetes, published on 6 Sep 2021. An attacker needs administrator access to exploit it, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2021-25735 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- k8s.io/kubernetes (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 1.18.18, 1.19.10, 1.20.6
- k8s.io/kubernetes (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 1.18.18
- k8s.io/kubernetes (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 1.18.18

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
