It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2021-37646 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- tensorflow (Bitnami): affected from 2.3.0; fixed in 2.3.4, 2.4.3, 2.5.1\n- tensorflow (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 2.3.4\n- tensorflow (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 2.3.4\n- tensorflow (PyPI): affected from 2.3.0; fixed in 2.3.4, 2.4.3\n- tensorflow (PyPI): affected from 2.4.0; fixed in 2.4.3\n- tensorflow (PyPI): affected from 2.4.0; fixed in 2.4.3\n- tensorflow (PyPI): affected from 2.5.0; fixed in 2.5.1\n- tensorflow (PyPI): affected from 2.5.0; fixed in 2.5.1\n- tensorflow-cpu (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 2.3.4\n- tensorflow-cpu (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 2.3.4\n- tensorflow-cpu (PyPI): affected from 2.3.0; fixed in 2.3.4, 2.4.3\n- tensorflow-cpu (PyPI): affected from 2.4.0; fixed in 2.4.3\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2021-37646/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2021-37646/index.md)","id":"CVE-2021-37646","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2021-37646/index.md","name":"CVE-2021-37646","record":{"aliases":["BIT-tensorflow-2021-37646","GHSA-h6jh-7gv5-28vg","PYSEC-2021-268","PYSEC-2021-559","PYSEC-2021-757"],"analysis":{"component_type":"library","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"adjacent_or_local","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"TensorFlow machine learning library","requires_auth":"low_privilege","summary":"An attacker can cause a denial of service in TensorFlow by supplying negative ngram widths, triggering an integer overflow and bad allocation.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"integer_overflow"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[{"product":"tensorflow","vendor":"google"}],"cvss":{"score":5.5,"severity":"medium","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-681","name":"Incorrect Conversion between Numeric Types"}],"description":"TensorFlow is an end-to-end open source platform for machine learning. In affected versions the implementation of `tf.raw_ops.StringNGrams` is vulnerable to an integer overflow issue caused by converting a signed integer value to an unsigned one and then allocating memory based on this value. The [implementation](https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/blob/8d72537c6abf5a44103b57b9c2e22c14f5f49698/tensorflow/core/kernels/string_ngrams_op.cc#L184) calls `reserve` on a `tstring` with a value that sometimes can be negative if user supplies negative `ngram_widths`. The `reserve` method calls `TF_TString_Reserve` which has an `unsigned long` argument for the size of the buffer. Hence, the implicit conversion transforms the negative value to a large integer. We have patched the issue in GitHub commit c283e542a3f422420cfdb332414543b62fc4e4a5. The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.6.0. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.5.1, TensorFlow 2.4.3, and TensorFlow 2.3.4, as these are also affected and still in supported range.","ecosystems":["Bitnami","PyPI"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"Bad
