## What is CVE-2022-2097?

CVE-2022-2097 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Debian Debian Linux, published on 5 Jul 2022. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

AES OCB mode for 32-bit x86 platforms using the AES-NI assembly optimised implementation will not encrypt the entirety of the data under some circumstances. This could reveal sixteen bytes of data that was preexisting in the memory that wasn't written. In the special case of "in place" encryption, sixteen bytes of the plaintext would be revealed. Since OpenSSL does not support OCB based cipher suites for TLS and DTLS, they are both unaffected. Fixed in OpenSSL 3.0.5 (Affected 3.0.0-3.0.4). Fixed in OpenSSL 1.1.1q (Affected 1.1.1-1.1.1p).

Weakness: CWE-327 (Use of a Broken or Risky Cryptographic Algorithm)

Check this codebase for CVE-2022-2097 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2022-2097 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Debian Debian Linux, published on 5 Jul 2022. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2022-2097 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- openssl-src (crates.io): affected all versions; fixed in 111.22.0
- openssl-src (crates.io): affected all versions; fixed in 111.22.0
- openssl-src (crates.io): affected from 0.0.0-0; fixed in 111.22.0, 300.0.9
- openssl-src (crates.io): affected from 300.0.0; fixed in 300.0.9
- openssl-src (crates.io): affected from 300.0.0; fixed in 300.0.9

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
