## What is CVE-2022-22969?

CVE-2022-22969 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Spring Security OAuth, published on 21 Apr 2022.

### Official description

<Issue Description> Spring Security OAuth versions 2.5.x prior to 2.5.2 and older unsupported versions are susceptible to a Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack via the initiation of the Authorization Request in an OAuth 2.0 Client application. A malicious user or attacker can send multiple requests initiating the Authorization Request for the Authorization Code Grant, which has the potential of exhausting system resources using a single session. This vulnerability exposes OAuth 2.0 Client applications only.

What it is: CVE-2022-22969 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Spring Security OAuth, published on 21 Apr 2022.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2022-22969 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- org.springframework.security.oauth:spring-security-oauth2 (Maven): affected from 2.4.0.RELEASE; fixed in 2.4.2.RELEASE
- org.springframework.security.oauth:spring-security-oauth2 (Maven): affected from 2.4.0.RELEASE; fixed in 2.4.2.RELEASE
- org.springframework.security.oauth:spring-security-oauth2 (Maven): affected from 2.5.0.RELEASE; fixed in 2.5.2.RELEASE

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
