## What is CVE-2022-24834?

CVE-2022-24834 is a high-severity memory corruption vulnerability in Fedoraproject Fedora, published on 13 Jul 2023. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

Redis is an in-memory database that persists on disk. A specially crafted Lua script executing in Redis can trigger a heap overflow in the cjson library, and result with heap corruption and potentially remote code execution. The problem exists in all versions of Redis with Lua scripting support, starting from 2.6, and affects only authenticated and authorized users. The problem is fixed in versions 7.0.12, 6.2.13, and 6.0.20.

Weakness: CWE-680 (Integer Overflow to Buffer Overflow), CWE-122 (Heap-based Buffer Overflow)

## Fix prompt for AI coding agents

```text
Check this codebase for CVE-2022-24834 and fix it if it is affected.
What it is: CVE-2022-24834 is a high-severity memory corruption vulnerability in Fedoraproject Fedora, published on 13 Jul 2023. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2022-24834 exists.
Affected packages and fixed versions:
- keydb (Bitnami): affected from 2.6.0; fixed in 6.0.20, 6.2.13, 7.0.12
- redis (Bitnami): affected from 2.6.0; fixed in 6.0.20, 6.2.13, 7.0.12
- valkey (Bitnami): affected from 2.6.0; fixed in 6.0.20, 6.2.13, 7.0.12
Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
