## What is CVE-2022-27780?

CVE-2022-27780 is a medium-severity server-side request forgery vulnerability in Haxx Curl, published on 1 Jun 2022. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

The curl URL parser wrongly accepts percent-encoded URL separators like '/'when decoding the host name part of a URL, making it a *different* URL usingthe wrong host name when it is later retrieved.For example, a URL like `http://example.com%2F127.0.0.1/`, would be allowed bythe parser and get transposed into `http://example.com/127.0.0.1/`. This flawcan be used to circumvent filters, checks and more.

Weakness: CWE-918 (Server-Side Request Forgery), CWE-177 (Improper Handling of URL Encoding (Hex Encoding))

## Fix prompt for AI coding agents

```text
Check this codebase for CVE-2022-27780 and fix it if it is affected.
What it is: CVE-2022-27780 is a medium-severity server-side request forgery vulnerability in Haxx Curl, published on 1 Jun 2022. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2022-27780 exists.
Affected product: Haxx Curl. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.
Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
