An attacker needs administrator access to exploit it, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2022-31075 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 1.9.4, 1.10.2, 1.11.1\n- github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 1.9.4\n- github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 1.9.4\n- github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge (Go): affected from 1.10.0; fixed in 1.10.2\n- github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge (Go): affected from 1.10.0; fixed in 1.10.2\n- github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge (Go): affected from 1.11.0; fixed in 1.11.1\n- github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge (Go): affected from 1.11.0; fixed in 1.11.1\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2022-31075/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2022-31075/index.md)","id":"CVE-2022-31075","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2022-31075/index.md","name":"CVE-2022-31075","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-x3px-2p95-f6jr","GO-2022-0509"],"analysis":{"component_type":"container_or_infrastructure","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":true,"product_category":"KubeEdge CloudHub","requires_auth":"high_privilege","summary":"Authorized users can crash KubeEdge CloudHub via memory exhaustion by sending large HTTP requests to the certificate endpoint.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"denial_of_service"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[{"product":"kubeedge","vendor":"linuxfoundation"}],"cvss":{"score":4.9,"severity":"medium","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-770","name":"Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling"},{"id":"CWE-400","name":"Uncontrolled Resource Consumption"}],"description":"KubeEdge is an open source system for extending native containerized application orchestration capabilities to hosts at Edge. Prior to versions 1.11.1, 1.10.2, and 1.9.4, EdgeCore may be susceptible to a DoS attack on CloudHub if an attacker was to send a well-crafted HTTP request to `/edge.crt`. If an attacker can send a well-crafted HTTP request to CloudHub, and that request has a very large body, that request can crash the HTTP service through a memory exhaustion vector. The request body is being read into memory, and a body that is larger than the available memory can lead to a successful attack. Because the request would have to make it through authorization, only authorized users may perform this attack. The consequence of the exhaustion is that CloudHub will be in denial of service. KubeEdge is affected only when users enable the CloudHub module in the file `cloudcore.yaml`. This bug has been fixed in Kubeedge 1.11.1, 1.10.2, and 1.9.4. As a workaround, disable the CloudHub switch in the config file `cloudcore.yaml`.","ecosystems":["Go"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"KubeEdge DoS when signing the CSR from EdgeCore","id":"CVE-2022-31075","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"Go","product":null,"products":[],"type":"denial_of_service","year":"2022"},"n_packages":7,"n_references":1,"next":{"headline":"Malicious Message can crash CloudCore in KubeEdge","id":"CVE-2022-31076"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.9.4","1.10.2","1.11.1"],"introduced":["0","1.10.0","1.11.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","source":"GO-2022-0509"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.9.4"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-x3px-2p95-f6jr"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.9.4"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","source":"GHSA-x3px-2p95-f6jr"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.10.2"],"introduced":["1.10.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-x3px-2p95-f6jr"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.10.2"],"introduced":["1.10.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","source":"GHSA-x3px-2p95-f6jr"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.11.1"],"introduced":["1.11.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-x3px-2p95-f6jr"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.11.1"],"introduced":["1.11.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","source":"GHSA-x3px-2p95-f6jr"}],"prev":{"headline":"KubeEdge Cloud AdmissionController component DoS","id":"CVE-2022-31074"},"products":["kubeedge"],"published":"2022-07-11","related":[{"cvss_score":6.5,"headline":"KubeEdge Edge ServiceBus module DoS","id":"CVE-2022-31073","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2022-07-11"},{"cvss_score":4.5,"headline":"KubeEdge Cloud AdmissionController component DoS","id":"CVE-2022-31074","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2022-07-11"},{"cvss_score":4.4,"headline":"KubeEdge CloudCore Router memory exhaustion","id":"CVE-2022-31078","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2022-07-11"},{"cvss_score":4.4,"headline":"KubeEdge Cloud Stream and Edge Stream DoS from large stream message","id":"CVE-2022-31079","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2022-07-11"},{"cvss_score":4.4,"headline":"KubeEdge Websocket Client in package Viaduct: DoS from large response message","id":"CVE-2022-31080","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2022-07-11"},{"cvss_score":4.2,"headline":"Malicious Message can crash CloudCore in KubeEdge","id":"CVE-2022-31076","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2022-06-27"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"Go Vulnerability Database","prefix":"GO"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"no","exploitation":"none","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2025-04-23","vendors":["kubeedge"]},"summary":"Authorized users can crash KubeEdge CloudHub via memory exhaustion by sending large HTTP requests to the certificate endpoint.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2022-31075/"}
