An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2022-31207 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected product: n/a. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2022-31207/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2022-31207/index.md)","id":"CVE-2022-31207","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2022-31207/index.md","name":"CVE-2022-31207","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-cf5x-xcv3-5jx9"],"analysis":{"component_type":"ics_ot","fix_type":"no_fix_stated","impacts":["code_execution","privilege_escalation"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Omron SYSMAC PLC","requires_auth":"none","summary":"Attackers can inject malicious control logic into Omron SYSMAC PLCs via the FINS protocol due to lack of cryptographic authentication, leading to arbitrary code execution.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"missing_authorization"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"mitre","cpe":[{"product":"cp1w-cif41_firmware","vendor":"omron"},{"product":"sysmac_cj2h_firmware","vendor":"omron"},{"product":"sysmac_cj2m_firmware","vendor":"omron"},{"product":"sysmac_cp1e_firmware","vendor":"omron"},{"product":"sysmac_cp1h_firmware","vendor":"omron"},{"product":"sysmac_cp1l_firmware","vendor":"omron"},{"product":"sysmac_cs1_firmware","vendor":"omron"}],"cvss":{"score":9.8,"severity":"critical","source":"nvd","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-347","name":"Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature"}],"description":"The Omron SYSMAC Cx product family PLCs (CS series, CJ series, and CP series) through 2022-05-18 lack cryptographic authentication. They utilize the Omron FINS (9600/TCP) protocol for engineering purposes, including downloading projects and control logic to the PLC. This protocol has authentication flaws as reported in FSCT-2022-0057. Control logic is downloaded to PLC volatile memory using the FINS Program Area Read and Program Area Write commands or to non-volatile memory using other commands from where it can be loaded into volatile memory for execution. The logic that is loaded into and executed from the user program area exists in compiled object code form. Upon execution, these object codes are first passed to a dedicated ASIC that determines whether the object code is to be executed by the ASIC or the microprocessor. In the former case, the object code is interpreted by the ASIC whereas in the latter case the object code is passed to the microprocessor for object code interpretation by a ROM interpreter. In the abnormal case where the object code cannot be handled by either, an abnormal condition is triggered and the PLC is halted. The logic that is downloaded to the PLC does not seem to be cryptographically authenticated, thus allowing an attacker to manipulate transmitted object code to the PLC and either execute arbitrary object code commands on the ASIC or on the microprocessor interpreter.","ecosystems":[],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":null,"headline":"Missing authorization in n/a","id":"CVE-2022-31207","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":null,"product":null,"products":[],"type":"missing_authorization","year":"2022"},"n_packages":0,"n_references":2,"next":{"headline":"Command injection in n/a","id":"CVE-2022-31208"},"packages":[],"prev":{"headline":"Missing authorization in n/a","id":"CVE-2022-31206"},"products":["n/a"],"published":"2022-07-26","related":[{"cvss_score":7.5,"headline":"Information disclosure in n/a","id":"CVE-2022-31204","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2022-07-26"},{"cvss_score":7.5,"headline":"Information disclosure in n/a","id":"CVE-2022-31205","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2022-07-26"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":null,"exploitation":null,"technical_impact":null},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2024-08-03","vendors":["n/a"]},"summary":"Attackers can inject malicious control logic into Omron SYSMAC PLCs via the FINS protocol due to lack of cryptographic authentication, leading to arbitrary code execution.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2022-31207/"}
