## What is CVE-2022-49318?

CVE-2022-49318 is a medium-severity denial of service vulnerability in Linux kernel, published on 26 Feb 2025. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

f2fs: remove WARN_ON in f2fs_is_valid_blkaddr

Syzbot triggers two WARNs in f2fs_is_valid_blkaddr and
__is_bitmap_valid. For example, in f2fs_is_valid_blkaddr,
if type is DATA_GENERIC_ENHANCE or DATA_GENERIC_ENHANCE_READ,
it invokes WARN_ON if blkaddr is not in the right range.
The call trace is as follows:

 f2fs_get_node_info+0x45f/0x1070
 read_node_page+0x577/0x1190
 __get_node_page.part.0+0x9e/0x10e0
 __get_node_page
 f2fs_get_node_page+0x109/0x180
 do_read_inode
 f2fs_iget+0x2a5/0x58b0
 f2fs_fill_super+0x3b39/0x7ca0

Fix these two WARNs by replacing WARN_ON with dump_stack.

## Fix prompt for AI coding agents

```text
Check this codebase for CVE-2022-49318 and fix it if it is affected.
What it is: CVE-2022-49318 is a medium-severity denial of service vulnerability in Linux kernel, published on 26 Feb 2025. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2022-49318 in the wild and no public exploit code.
Affected product: Linux kernel. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.
Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
