## What is CVE-2023-27043?

CVE-2023-27043 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Fedoraproject Fedora, published on 18 Apr 2023. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

The email module of Python through 3.11.3 incorrectly parses e-mail addresses that contain a special character. The wrong portion of an RFC2822 header is identified as the value of the addr-spec. In some applications, an attacker can bypass a protection mechanism in which application access is granted only after verifying receipt of e-mail to a specific domain (e.g., only @company.example.com addresses may be used for signup). This occurs in email/_parseaddr.py in recent versions of Python.

Weakness: CWE-20 (Improper Input Validation), CWE-1286 (Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input)

Check this codebase for CVE-2023-27043 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2023-27043 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Fedoraproject Fedora, published on 18 Apr 2023. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2023-27043 exists.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- libpython (Bitnami): affected all versions; fixed in 3.8.20, 3.10.15, 3.11.10, 3.12.6, 3.9.20
- python (Bitnami): affected all versions; fixed in 3.8.20, 3.10.15, 3.11.10, 3.12.6, 3.9.20
- python-min (Bitnami): affected all versions; fixed in 3.8.20, 3.10.15, 3.11.10, 3.12.6, 3.9.20

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
