## What is CVE-2023-39325?

CVE-2023-39325 is a high-severity denial of service vulnerability in Fedoraproject Fedora, published on 11 Oct 2023. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

A malicious HTTP/2 client which rapidly creates requests and immediately resets them can cause excessive server resource consumption. While the total number of requests is bounded by the http2.Server.MaxConcurrentStreams setting, resetting an in-progress request allows the attacker to create a new request while the existing one is still executing. With the fix applied, HTTP/2 servers now bound the number of simultaneously executing handler goroutines to the stream concurrency limit (MaxConcurrentStreams). New requests arriving when at the limit (which can only happen after the client has reset an existing, in-flight request) will be queued until a handler exits. If the request queue grows too large, the server will terminate the connection. This issue is also fixed in golang.org/x/net/http2 for users manually configuring HTTP/2. The default stream concurrency limit is 250 streams (requests) per HTTP/2 connection. This value may be adjusted using the golang.org/x/net/http2 package; see the Server.MaxConcurrentStreams setting and the ConfigureServer function.

Weakness: CWE-770 (Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling)

Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2023-39325 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- golang.org/x/net (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 0.17.0
- golang.org/x/net (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 0.17.0
- golang.org/x/net (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 0.17.0

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
