{"answers":{"affected":"3 open source packages ship an affected version, including github.com/cubefs/cubefs. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2023-46738/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2023-46738/index.md)","id":"CVE-2023-46738","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2023-46738/index.md","name":"CVE-2023-46738","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-qc6v-g3xw-grmx","GO-2024-2430"],"analysis":null,"analysis_generated_by":null,"assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[{"product":"cubefs","vendor":"linuxfoundation"}],"cvss":{"score":6.5,"severity":"medium","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-770","name":"Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling"}],"description":"CubeFS is an open-source cloud-native file storage system. A security vulnerability was found in CubeFS HandlerNode in versions prior to 3.3.1 that could allow authenticated users to send maliciously-crafted requests that would crash the ObjectNode and deny other users from using it. The root cause was improper handling of incoming HTTP requests that could allow an attacker to control the ammount of memory that the ObjectNode would allocate. A malicious request could make the ObjectNode allocate more memory that the machine had available, and the attacker could exhaust memory by way of a single malicious request. An attacker would need to be authenticated in order to invoke the vulnerable code with their malicious request and have permissions to delete objects. In addition, the attacker would need to know the names of existing buckets of the CubeFS deployment - otherwise the request would be rejected before it reached the vulnerable code. As such, the most likely attacker is an inside user or an attacker that has breached the account of an existing user in the cluster. The issue has been patched in v3.3.1. There is no other mitigation besides upgrading.","ecosystems":["Go"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"Authenticated users can crash the CubeFS servers with maliciously crafted requests","id":"CVE-2023-46738","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"Go","product":null,"products":[],"type":null,"year":"2023"},"n_packages":3,"n_references":2,"next":{"headline":"Timing attack can leak user passwords","id":"CVE-2023-46739"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":[],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/cubefs/cubefs","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/cubefs/cubefs","source":"GO-2024-2430"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["3.3.1"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/cubefs/cubefs","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-qc6v-g3xw-grmx"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["3.3.1"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/cubefs/cubefs","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/cubefs/cubefs","source":"GHSA-qc6v-g3xw-grmx"}],"prev":{"headline":"Possible endless data attack from attacker-controlled registry in cosign","id":"CVE-2023-46737"},"products":["cubefs"],"published":"2024-01-03","related":[{"cvss_score":6.5,"headline":"Timing attack can leak user passwords","id":"CVE-2023-46739","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-01-03"},{"cvss_score":6.5,"headline":"Insecure random string generator used for sensitive data","id":"CVE-2023-46740","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-01-03"},{"cvss_score":6.5,"headline":"CubeFS allows Kubernetes cluster-level privilege escalation","id":"CVE-2023-30512","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2023-04-12"},{"cvss_score":4.8,"headline":"CubeFS leaks magic secret key when starting Blobstore access service","id":"CVE-2023-46741","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-01-03"},{"cvss_score":4.8,"headline":"CubeFS leaks users key in logs","id":"CVE-2023-46742","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-01-03"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"Go Vulnerability Database","prefix":"GO"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"no","exploitation":"none","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2024-08-27","vendors":["cubefs"]},"summary":null,"url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2023-46738/"}
