It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, and only if a user opens a file or follows a link.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2023-46741 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- github.com/cubefs/cubefs (Go): affected all versions; no fix listed\n- github.com/cubefs/cubefs (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 3.3.1\n- github.com/cubefs/cubefs (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 3.3.1\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2023-46741/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2023-46741/index.md)","id":"CVE-2023-46741","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2023-46741/index.md","name":"CVE-2023-46741","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-8h2x-gr2c-c275","GO-2024-2433"],"analysis":{"component_type":"cloud_service","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["data_read","privilege_escalation"],"network_reachable":"adjacent_or_local","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Cloud-native file storage","requires_auth":"low_privilege","summary":"Attackers can read sensitive secret keys from logs to perform unauthorized blob operations and escalate privileges in CubeFS.","user_interaction":"required","vuln_class":"information_disclosure"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[{"product":"cubefs","vendor":"linuxfoundation"}],"cvss":{"score":4.8,"severity":"medium","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-200","name":"Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor"}],"description":"CubeFS is an open-source cloud-native file storage system. A vulnerability was found in CubeFS prior to version 3.3.1 that could allow users to read sensitive data from the logs which could allow them escalate privileges. CubeFS leaks configuration keys in plaintext format in the logs. These keys could allow anyone to carry out operations on blobs that they otherwise do not have permissions for. For example, an attacker that has succesfully retrieved a secret key from the logs can delete blogs from the blob store. The attacker can either be an internal user with limited privileges to read the log, or they can be an external user who has escalated privileges sufficiently to access the logs. The vulnerability has been patched in v3.3.1. There is no other mitigation than upgrading.","ecosystems":["Go"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"CubeFS leaks magic secret key when starting Blobstore access service","id":"CVE-2023-46741","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"Go","product":null,"products":[],"type":"information_disclosure","year":"2023"},"n_packages":3,"n_references":2,"next":{"headline":"CubeFS leaks users key in logs","id":"CVE-2023-46742"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":[],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/cubefs/cubefs","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/cubefs/cubefs","source":"GO-2024-2433"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["3.3.1"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/cubefs/cubefs","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-8h2x-gr2c-c275"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["3.3.1"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/cubefs/cubefs","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/cubefs/cubefs","source":"GHSA-8h2x-gr2c-c275"}],"prev":{"headline":"Insecure random string generator used for sensitive data","id":"CVE-2023-46740"},"products":["cubefs"],"published":"2024-01-03","related":[{"cvss_score":6.5,"headline":"Authenticated users can crash the CubeFS servers with maliciously crafted requests","id":"CVE-2023-46738","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-01-03"},{"cvss_score":6.5,"headline":"Timing attack can leak user passwords","id":"CVE-2023-46739","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-01-03"},{"cvss_score":6.5,"headline":"Insecure random string generator used for sensitive data","id":"CVE-2023-46740","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-01-03"},{"cvss_score":6.5,"headline":"CubeFS allows Kubernetes cluster-level privilege escalation","id":"CVE-2023-30512","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2023-04-12"},{"cvss_score":4.8,"headline":"CubeFS leaks users key in logs","id":"CVE-2023-46742","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-01-03"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"Go Vulnerability Database","prefix":"GO"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"no","exploitation":"none","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2025-06-03","vendors":["cubefs"]},"summary":"Attackers can read sensitive secret keys from logs to perform unauthorized blob operations and escalate privileges in CubeFS.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2023-46741/"}
