## What is CVE-2023-49069?

CVE-2023-49069 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Siemens Mendix Runtime V10, published on 10 Sep 2024. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

A vulnerability has been identified in Mendix Runtime V10 (All versions < V10.17.0 only if the basic authentication mechanism is used by the application), Mendix Runtime V10.12 (All versions < V10.12.11 only if the basic authentication mechanism is used by the application), Mendix Runtime V10.6 (All versions < V10.6.19 only if the basic authentication mechanism is used by the application), Mendix Runtime V8 (All versions < V8.18.33 only if the basic authentication mechanism is used by the application), Mendix Runtime V9 (All versions < V9.24.31 only if the basic authentication mechanism is used by the application). The authentication mechanism of affected applications contains an observable response discrepancy vulnerability when validating usernames. This could allow unauthenticated remote attackers to distinguish between valid and invalid usernames.

Weakness: CWE-204 (Observable Response Discrepancy)

What it is: CVE-2023-49069 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Siemens Mendix Runtime V10, published on 10 Sep 2024. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2023-49069 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected product: Siemens Mendix Runtime V10. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
