## What is CVE-2024-1067?

CVE-2024-1067 is a high-severity use after free vulnerability in Arm Valhall Gpu Kernel Driver, published on 3 May 2024. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

Use After Free vulnerability in Arm Ltd Bifrost GPU Kernel Driver, Arm Ltd Valhall GPU Kernel Driver, Arm Ltd Arm 5th Gen GPU Architecture Kernel Driver allows a local non-privileged user to make improper GPU memory processing operations. On Armv8.0 cores, there are certain combinations of the Linux Kernel and Mali GPU kernel driver configurations that would allow the GPU operations to affect the userspace memory of other processes.
This issue affects Bifrost GPU Kernel Driver: from r41p0 through r47p0; Valhall GPU Kernel Driver: from r41p0 through r47p0; Arm 5th Gen GPU Architecture Kernel Driver: from r41p0 through r47p0.

Weakness: CWE-416 (Use After Free)

## Fix prompt for AI coding agents

```text
Check this codebase for CVE-2024-1067 and fix it if it is affected.
What it is: CVE-2024-1067 is a high-severity use after free vulnerability in Arm Valhall Gpu Kernel Driver, published on 3 May 2024. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2024-1067 in the wild and no public exploit code.
Affected product: Arm Valhall Gpu Kernel Driver. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.
Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
