An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2024-1410 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- quiche (crates.io): affected all versions; fixed in 0.19.2\n- quiche (crates.io): affected all versions; fixed in 0.19.2\n- quiche (crates.io): affected from 0.20.0; fixed in 0.20.1\n- quiche (crates.io): affected from 0.20.0; fixed in 0.20.1\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2024-1410/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2024-1410/index.md)","id":"CVE-2024-1410","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2024-1410/index.md","name":"CVE-2024-1410","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-xhg9-xwch-vr7x"],"analysis":{"component_type":"library","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"QUIC protocol library","requires_auth":"none","summary":"An unauthenticated remote attacker can cause excessive resource consumption and denial of service in the quiche library by exploiting unbounded storage of connection ID retirement information.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"denial_of_service"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"cloudflare","cpe":[{"product":"quiche","vendor":"cloudflare"}],"cvss":{"score":3.7,"severity":"low","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-400","name":"Uncontrolled Resource Consumption"}],"description":"Cloudflare quiche was discovered to be vulnerable to unbounded storage of information related to connection ID retirement, which could lead to excessive resource consumption. Each QUIC connection possesses a set of connection Identifiers (IDs); see  RFC 9000 Section 5.1 https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc9000#section-5.1 . Endpoints declare the number of active connection IDs they are willing to support using the active_connection_id_limit transport parameter. The peer can create new IDs using a NEW_CONNECTION_ID frame but must stay within the active ID limit. This is done by retirement of old IDs, the endpoint sends NEW_CONNECTION_ID includes a value in the retire_prior_to field, which elicits a RETIRE_CONNECTION_ID frame as confirmation. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit the vulnerability by sending NEW_CONNECTION_ID frames and manipulating the connection (e.g. by restricting the peer's congestion window size) so that RETIRE_CONNECTION_ID frames can only be sent at a slower rate than they are received, leading to storage of information related to connection IDs in an unbounded queue. Quiche versions 0.19.2 and 0.20.1 are the earliest to address this problem. There is no workaround for affected versions.","ecosystems":["crates.io"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"Unbounded storage of information related to connection ID retirement, in quiche","id":"CVE-2024-1410","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"crates.io","product":null,"products":[],"type":"denial_of_service","year":"2024"},"n_packages":4,"n_references":1,"next":{"headline":"Cross-site scripting in PowerPack Addons for Elementor (Free Widgets, Extensions and Templates)","id":"CVE-2024-1411"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","fixed":["0.19.2"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"quiche","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-xhg9-xwch-vr7x"},{"ecosystem":"crates.io","fixed":["0.19.2"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"quiche","purl":"pkg:cargo/quiche","source":"GHSA-xhg9-xwch-vr7x"},{"ecosystem":"crates.io","fixed":["0.20.1"],"introduced":["0.20.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"quiche","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-xhg9-xwch-vr7x"},{"ecosystem":"crates.io","fixed":["0.20.1"],"introduced":["0.20.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"quiche","purl":"pkg:cargo/quiche","source":"GHSA-xhg9-xwch-vr7x"}],"prev":{"headline":"Cross-site scripting in Paid Membership Plugin, Ecommerce, User Registration Form, Login Form, User Profile \u0026 Restrict Content – ProfilePress","id":"CVE-2024-1409"},"products":["quiche"],"published":"2024-03-12","related":[{"cvss_score":8.7,"headline":"Infinite loop triggered by connection ID retirement","id":"CVE-2025-7054","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-08-07"},{"cvss_score":7.5,"headline":"Resource exhaustion in quiche HTTP/3 and QPACK layers","id":"CVE-2026-12523","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-07-14"},{"cvss_score":7.5,"headline":"Incorrect congestion window growth by invalid ACK ranges","id":"CVE-2025-4821","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-06-18"},{"cvss_score":5.9,"headline":"Unlimited resource allocation by QUIC CRYPTO frames flooding in quiche","id":"CVE-2024-1765","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-03-12"},{"cvss_score":5.3,"headline":"Incorrect congestion window growth by optimistic ACK","id":"CVE-2025-4820","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-06-18"},{"cvss_score":5.3,"headline":"Unbounded queuing of path validation messages in cloudflare-quiche","id":"CVE-2023-6193","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2023-12-12"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"no","exploitation":"none","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2024-08-01","vendors":["Cloudflare"]},"summary":"An unauthenticated remote attacker can cause excessive resource consumption and denial of service in the quiche library by exploiting unbounded storage of connection ID retirement information.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2024-1410/"}
