## What is CVE-2024-29025?

CVE-2024-29025 is a medium-severity denial of service vulnerability in Debian Debian Linux, published on 25 Mar 2024. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

Netty is an asynchronous event-driven network application framework for rapid development of maintainable high performance protocol servers & clients. The `HttpPostRequestDecoder` can be tricked to accumulate data. While the decoder can store items on the disk if configured so, there are no limits to the number of fields the form can have, an attacher can send a chunked post consisting of many small fields that will be accumulated in the `bodyListHttpData` list. The decoder cumulates bytes in the `undecodedChunk` buffer until it can decode a field, this field can cumulate data without limits. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.1.108.Final.

Weakness: CWE-770 (Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling)

Check this codebase for CVE-2024-29025 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2024-29025 is a medium-severity denial of service vulnerability in Debian Debian Linux, published on 25 Mar 2024. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2024-29025 exists.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- io.netty:netty-codec-http (Maven): affected all versions; fixed in 4.1.108.Final
- io.netty:netty-codec-http (Maven): affected all versions; fixed in 4.1.108.Final

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
