## What is CVE-2024-3661?

CVE-2024-3661 is a high-severity vulnerability in F5 Big-Ip Access Policy Manager, published on 6 May 2024. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

DHCP can add routes to a client’s routing table via the classless static route option (121). VPN-based security solutions that rely on routes to redirect traffic can be forced to leak traffic over the physical interface. An attacker on the same local network can read, disrupt, or possibly modify network traffic that was expected to be protected by the VPN.

Weakness: CWE-501 (Trust Boundary Violation), CWE-306 (Missing Authentication for Critical Functionality)

## Fix prompt for AI coding agents

```text
Check this codebase for CVE-2024-3661 and fix it if it is affected.
What it is: CVE-2024-3661 is a high-severity vulnerability in F5 Big-Ip Access Policy Manager, published on 6 May 2024. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2024-3661 in the wild and no public exploit code.
Affected product: F5 Big-Ip Access Policy Manager. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.
Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
