An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2025-24787 exists.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- github.com/clidey/whodb/core (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 0.0.0-20250127202645-8d67b767e005\n- github.com/clidey/whodb/core (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 0.0.0-20250127202645-8d67b767e005\n- github.com/clidey/whodb/core (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 0.0.0-20250127202645-8d67b767e005\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24787/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24787/index.md)","id":"CVE-2025-24787","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24787/index.md","name":"CVE-2025-24787","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-c7w4-9wv8-7x7c","GO-2025-3457"],"analysis":{"component_type":"web_application","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["data_read"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"WhoDB database tool","requires_auth":"none","summary":"Attackers can inject parameters into database connection URIs to read local files on the host machine via unsafe string concatenation.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"path_traversal"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[{"product":"whodb","vendor":"clidey"}],"cvss":{"score":8.6,"severity":"high","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-943","name":"Improper Neutralization of Special Elements in Data Query Logic"}],"description":"WhoDB is an open source database management tool. In affected versions the application is vulnerable to parameter injection in database connection strings, which allows an attacker to read local files on the machine the application is running on. The application uses string concatenation to build database connection URIs which are then passed to corresponding libraries responsible for setting up the database connections. This string concatenation is done unsafely and without escaping or encoding the user input. This allows an user, in many cases, to inject arbitrary parameters into the URI string. These parameters can be potentially dangerous depending on the libraries used. One of these dangerous parameters is `allowAllFiles` in the library `github.com/go-sql-driver/mysql`. Should this be set to `true`, the library enables running the `LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE` query on any file on the host machine (in this case, the machine that WhoDB is running on). By injecting `\u0026allowAllFiles=true` into the connection URI and connecting to any MySQL server (such as an attacker-controlled one), the attacker is able to read local files. This issue has been addressed in version 0.45.0 and all users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.","ecosystems":["Go"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"weaponised"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"Parameter injection in DB connection URIs leading to local file inclusion in WhoDB","id":"CVE-2025-24787","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"Go","product":null,"products":[],"type":"path_traversal","year":"2025"},"n_packages":3,"n_references":2,"next":{"headline":"Snowflake Connector for .NET has weak temporary files permissions","id":"CVE-2025-24788"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["0.0.0-20250127202645-8d67b767e005"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/clidey/whodb/core","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-c7w4-9wv8-7x7c"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["0.0.0-20250127202645-8d67b767e005"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/clidey/whodb/core","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/clidey/whodb/core","source":"GHSA-c7w4-9wv8-7x7c"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["0.0.0-20250127202645-8d67b767e005"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/clidey/whodb/core","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/clidey/whodb/core","source":"GO-2025-3457"}],"prev":{"headline":"Path traversal opening Sqlite3 database in WhoDB","id":"CVE-2025-24786"},"products":["whodb"],"published":"2025-02-06","related":[{"cvss_score":10,"headline":"Path traversal opening Sqlite3 database in WhoDB","id":"CVE-2025-24786","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-02-06"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"Go Vulnerability Database","prefix":"GO"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"yes","exploitation":"poc","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2025-02-06","vendors":["clidey"]},"summary":"Attackers can inject parameters into database connection URIs to read local files on the host machine via unsafe string concatenation.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24787/"}
