An attacker needs administrator access to exploit it, and only if a user opens a file or follows a link.\nExploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2025-24804 exists.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- mobsf (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 4.3.1\n- mobsf (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 4.3.1\n- mobsf (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 4.3.1\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24804/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24804/index.md)","id":"CVE-2025-24804","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24804/index.md","name":"CVE-2025-24804","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-jrm8-xgf3-fwqr","PYSEC-2026-1674"],"analysis":{"component_type":"developer_tool","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Mobile Security Framework","requires_auth":"high_privilege","summary":"Attackers can cause a denial of service in MobSF by injecting special characters into an iOS app's bundle ID, requiring manual removal to restore functionality.","user_interaction":"required","vuln_class":"denial_of_service"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[{"product":"mobile_security_framework","vendor":"opensecurity"}],"cvss":{"score":4.8,"severity":"medium","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:P/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","version":"4.0"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-1287","name":"Improper Validation of Specified Type of Input"}],"description":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) is an automated, all-in-one mobile application (Android/iOS/Windows) pen-testing, malware analysis and security assessment framework. According to Apple's documentation for bundle ID's, it must contain only alphanumeric characters (A–Z, a–z, and 0–9), hyphens (-), and periods (.). However, an attacker can manually modify this value in the `Info.plist` file and add special characters to the `\u003ckey\u003eCFBundleIdentifier\u003c/key\u003e` value. When the application parses the wrong characters in the bundle ID, it encounters an error. As a result, it will not display content and will throw a 500 error instead. The only way to make the pages work again is to manually remove the malicious application from the system. This issue has been addressed in version 4.3.1 and all users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.","ecosystems":["PyPI"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"weaponised"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"Partial Denial of Service (DoS) in MobSF","id":"CVE-2025-24804","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"PyPI","product":null,"products":[],"type":"denial_of_service","year":"2025"},"n_packages":3,"n_references":3,"next":{"headline":"Local Privilege Escalation in MobSF","id":"CVE-2025-24805"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","fixed":["4.3.1"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"mobsf","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-jrm8-xgf3-fwqr"},{"ecosystem":"PyPI","fixed":["4.3.1"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"mobsf","purl":"pkg:pypi/mobsf","source":"GHSA-jrm8-xgf3-fwqr"},{"ecosystem":"PyPI","fixed":["4.3.1"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"mobsf","purl":"pkg:pypi/mobsf","source":"PYSEC-2026-1674"}],"prev":{"headline":"Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in MobSF","id":"CVE-2025-24803"},"products":["Mobile-Security-Framework-MobSF"],"published":"2025-02-05","related":[{"cvss_score":8.6,"headline":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) Allows Stored Cross Site Scripting (XSS) via malicious SVG Icon Upload","id":"CVE-2025-46335","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-05-05"},{"cvss_score":8.5,"headline":"Local Privilege Escalation in MobSF","id":"CVE-2025-24805","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-02-05"},{"cvss_score":8.4,"headline":"Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in MobSF","id":"CVE-2025-24803","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-02-05"},{"cvss_score":8.1,"headline":"MobSF has Stored XSS via Manifest Analysis - Dialer Code Host Field","id":"CVE-2026-24490","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-01-27"},{"cvss_score":8.1,"headline":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in \"Diff or Compare\" Functionality","id":"CVE-2024-53999","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-12-03"},{"cvss_score":8,"headline":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) has a Zip Slip Vulnerability in .a Static Library Files","id":"CVE-2024-43399","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-08-19"},{"cvss_score":7.5,"headline":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) bypass of SSRF fix","id":"CVE-2024-54000","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-12-03"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"PyPA Advisory Database","prefix":"PYSEC"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"no","exploitation":"poc","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2025-02-12","vendors":["MobSF"]},"summary":"Attackers can cause a denial of service in MobSF by injecting special characters into an iOS app's bundle ID, requiring manual removal to restore functionality.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24804/"}
