An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2025-24895 exists.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- CIE.AspNetCore.Authentication (NuGet): affected all versions; fixed in 2.1.0\n- CIE.AspNetCore.Authentication (NuGet): affected all versions; fixed in 2.1.0\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24895/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24895/index.md)","id":"CVE-2025-24895","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24895/index.md","name":"CVE-2025-24895","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-vq63-8f72-f486"],"analysis":{"component_type":"library","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["account_takeover","privilege_escalation"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"ASP.NET Core authentication library","requires_auth":"none","summary":"Attackers can bypass SAML signature verification to impersonate any user, requiring an upgrade to the CIE.AspNetCore.Authentication library.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"auth_bypass"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[],"cvss":{"score":9.1,"severity":"critical","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-287","name":"Improper Authentication"}],"description":"CIE.AspNetCore.Authentication is an AspNetCore Remote Authenticator for CIE 3.0. Authentication using Spid and CIE is based on the SAML2 standard which provides two entities: 1. Identity Provider (IDP): the system that authenticates users and provides identity information (SAML affirmation) to the Service Provider, in essence, is responsible for the management of the credentials and identity of users; 2. Service Provider (SP): the system that provides a service to the user and relies on the Identity Provider to authenticate the user, receives SAML assertions from the IdP to grant access to resources. The library cie-aspnetcore refers to the second entity, the SP, and implements the validation logic of SAML assertions within SAML responses. In affected versions there is no guarantee that the first signature refers to the root object, it follows that if an attacker injects an item signed as the first element, all other signatures will not be verified. The only requirement is to have an XML element legitimately signed by the IdP, a condition that is easily met using the IdP's public metadata. An attacker could create an arbitrary SAML response that would be accepted by SPs using vulnerable SDKs, allowing him to impersonate any Spid and/or CIE user. This issue has been addressed in version 2.1.0 and all users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.","ecosystems":["NuGet"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"weaponised"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"SAML Response Signature Verification Bypass in CIE.AspNetCore.Authentication","id":"CVE-2025-24895","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"NuGet","product":null,"products":[],"type":"auth_bypass","year":"2025"},"n_packages":2,"n_references":1,"next":{"headline":"Misskey allows token to remain valid in cookie after signing out","id":"CVE-2025-24896"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"NuGet","fixed":["2.1.0"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"CIE.AspNetCore.Authentication","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-vq63-8f72-f486"},{"ecosystem":"NuGet","fixed":["2.1.0"],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"CIE.AspNetCore.Authentication","purl":"pkg:nuget/CIE.AspNetCore.Authentication","source":"GHSA-vq63-8f72-f486"}],"prev":{"headline":"SAML Response Signature Verification Bypass in SPID.AspNetCore.Authentication","id":"CVE-2025-24894"},"products":["cie-aspnetcore"],"published":"2025-02-18","related":[],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"yes","exploitation":"poc","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2025-02-18","vendors":["italia"]},"summary":"Attackers can bypass SAML signature verification to impersonate any user, requiring an upgrade to the CIE.AspNetCore.Authentication library.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-24895/"}
