It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2025-37807 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected product: Linux kernel. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-37807/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-37807/index.md)","id":"CVE-2025-37807","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-37807/index.md","name":"CVE-2025-37807","record":{"aliases":["AZL-62729","AZL-69938","BELL-CVE-2025-37807","DEBIAN-CVE-2025-37807","GHSA-73cw-j3wh-rf6g","ROOT-OS-DEBIAN-11-CVE-2025-37807","ROOT-OS-DEBIAN-12-CVE-2025-37807","ROOT-OS-UBUNTU-2204-CVE-2025-37807","ROOT-OS-UBUNTU-2404-CVE-2025-37807","UBUNTU-CVE-2025-37807"],"analysis":{"component_type":"kernel","fix_type":"patch","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"adjacent_or_local","non_default_config":true,"product_category":"Linux kernel BPF","requires_auth":"low_privilege","summary":"A memory leak in the Linux kernel BPF subsystem can cause resource exhaustion and denial of service when kmemleak is enabled.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"memory_corruption"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"Linux","cpe":[{"product":"linux_kernel","vendor":"linux"}],"cvss":{"score":5.5,"severity":"medium","source":"nvd","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-401","name":"Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime"}],"description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nbpf: Fix kmemleak warning for percpu hashmap\n\nVlad Poenaru reported the following kmemleak issue:\n\n  unreferenced object 0x606fd7c44ac8 (size 32):\n    backtrace (crc 0):\n      pcpu_alloc_noprof+0x730/0xeb0\n      bpf_map_alloc_percpu+0x69/0xc0\n      prealloc_init+0x9d/0x1b0\n      htab_map_alloc+0x363/0x510\n      map_create+0x215/0x3a0\n      __sys_bpf+0x16b/0x3e0\n      __x64_sys_bpf+0x18/0x20\n      do_syscall_64+0x7b/0x150\n      entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x4b/0x53\n\nFurther investigation shows the reason is due to not 8-byte aligned\nstore of percpu pointer in htab_elem_set_ptr():\n  *(void __percpu **)(l-\u003ekey + key_size) = pptr;\n\nNote that the whole htab_elem alignment is 8 (for x86_64). If the key_size\nis 4, that means pptr is stored in a location which is 4 byte aligned but\nnot 8 byte aligned. In mm/kmemleak.c, scan_block() scans the memory based\non 8 byte stride, so it won't detect above pptr, hence reporting the memory\nleak.\n\nIn htab_map_alloc(), we already have\n\n        htab-\u003eelem_size = sizeof(struct htab_elem) +\n                          round_up(htab-\u003emap.key_size, 8);\n        if (percpu)\n                htab-\u003eelem_size += sizeof(void *);\n        else\n                htab-\u003eelem_size += round_up(htab-\u003emap.value_size, 8);\n\nSo storing pptr with 8-byte alignment won't cause any problem and can fix\nkmemleak too.\n\nThe issue can be reproduced with bpf selftest as well:\n  1. Enable CONFIG_DEBUG_KMEMLEAK config\n  2. Add a getchar() before skel destroy in test_hash_map() in prog_tests/for_each.c.\n     The purpose is to keep map available so kmemleak can be detected.\n  3. run './test_progs -t for_each/hash_map \u0026' and a kmemleak should be reported.","ecosystems":[],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"bpf: Fix kmemleak warning for percpu hashmap","id":"CVE-2025-37807","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":null,"product":"linux:linux_kernel","products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"type":"memory_corruption","year":"2025"},"n_packages":0,"n_references":4,"next":{"headline":"crypto: null - Use spin lock instead of mutex","id":"CVE-2025-37808"},"packages":[],"prev":{"headline":"fs/ntfs3: Keep write operations atomic","id":"CVE-2025-37806"},"products":["Linux"],"published":"2025-05-08","related":[{"cvss_score":8.8,"headline":"Linux Kernel Out-of-Bounds Write","id":"CVE-2026-53266","kev_date_added":"2026-09-18","published":"2026-06-25"},{"cvss_score":8.8,"headline":"Linux Kernel Improper Input Validation","id":"CVE-2013-6282","kev_date_added":"2022-09-15","published":"2013-11-19"},{"cvss_score":8.4,"headline":"Linux Kernel Heap-Based Buffer Overflow","id":"CVE-2022-0185","kev_date_added":"2024-08-21","published":"2022-02-11"},{"cvss_score":8.4,"headline":"Linux Kernel Privilege Escalation","id":"CVE-2013-2094","kev_date_added":"2022-09-15","published":"2013-05-14"},{"cvss_score":7.8,"headline":"Linux Kernel Unspecified","id":"CVE-2026-53362","kev_date_added":"2026-08-27","published":"2026-07-04"},{"cvss_score":7.8,"headline":"Linux Kernel Missing Initialization of a Variable","id":"CVE-2026-46300","kev_date_added":"2026-10-28","published":"2026-05-23"},{"cvss_score":7.8,"headline":"Linux Kernel Race Condition","id":"CVE-2025-39964","kev_date_added":"2026-09-18","published":"2025-10-13"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":null,"exploitation":null,"technical_impact":null},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2026-10-21","vendors":["Linux"]},"summary":"A memory leak in the Linux kernel BPF subsystem can cause resource exhaustion and denial of service when kmemleak is enabled.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-37807/"}
