An attacker needs administrator access to exploit it, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2025-46730 exists.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- mobsf (PyPI): affected all versions up to 4.3.2; no fix listed\n- mobsf (PyPI): affected all versions up to 4.3.2; no fix listed\n- mobsf (PyPI): affected all versions up to 4.3.2; no fix listed\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-46730/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-46730/index.md)","id":"CVE-2025-46730","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-46730/index.md","name":"CVE-2025-46730","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-c5vg-26p8-q8cr","PYSEC-2026-1671"],"analysis":{"component_type":"developer_tool","fix_type":"patch","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Mobile Security Framework","requires_auth":"high_privilege","summary":"An attacker can cause server-wide denial of service by uploading a malicious ZIP bomb to MobSF, exhausting disk space on the hosting server.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"denial_of_service"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[{"product":"mobile_security_framework","vendor":"opensecurity"}],"cvss":{"score":6.8,"severity":"medium","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-409","name":"Improper Handling of Highly Compressed Data (Data Amplification)"}],"description":"MobSF is a mobile application security testing tool used. Typically, MobSF is deployed on centralized internal or cloud-based servers that also host other security tools and web applications. Access to the MobSF web interface is often granted to internal security teams, audit teams, and external vendors.  MobSF provides a feature that allows users to upload ZIP files for static analysis. Upon upload, these ZIP files are automatically extracted and stored within the MobSF directory. However, in versions up to and including 4.3.2, this functionality lacks a check on the total uncompressed size of the ZIP file, making it vulnerable to a ZIP of Death (zip bomb) attack. Due to the absence of safeguards against oversized extractions, an attacker can craft a specially prepared ZIP file that is small in compressed form but expands to a massive size upon extraction. Exploiting this, an attacker can exhaust the server's disk space, leading to a complete denial of service (DoS) not just for MobSF, but also for any other applications or websites hosted on the same server. This vulnerability can lead to complete server disruption in an organization which can affect other internal portals and tools too (which are hosted on the same server). If some organization has created their customized cloud based mobile security tool using MobSF core then an attacker can exploit this vulnerability to crash their servers. Commit 6987a946485a795f4fd38cebdb4860b368a1995d fixes this issue. As an additional mitigation, it is recommended to implement a safeguard that checks the total uncompressed size of any uploaded ZIP file before extraction. If the estimated uncompressed size exceeds a safe threshold (e.g., 100 MB), MobSF should reject the file and notify the user.","ecosystems":["PyPI"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"weaponised"},"has_fix":false,"headline":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) Allows Web Server Resource Exhaustion via ZIP of Death Attack","id":"CVE-2025-46730","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"PyPI","product":null,"products":[],"type":"denial_of_service","year":"2025"},"n_packages":3,"n_references":2,"next":{"headline":"Craft CMS Contains a Potential Remote Code Execution Vulnerability via Twig SSTI","id":"CVE-2025-46731"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","fixed":[],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":["4.3.2"],"package":"mobsf","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-c5vg-26p8-q8cr"},{"ecosystem":"PyPI","fixed":[],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":["4.3.2"],"package":"mobsf","purl":"pkg:pypi/mobsf","source":"GHSA-c5vg-26p8-q8cr"},{"ecosystem":"PyPI","fixed":[],"introduced":["0"],"last_affected":["4.3.2"],"package":"mobsf","purl":"pkg:pypi/mobsf","source":"PYSEC-2026-1671"}],"prev":{"headline":"phpDVDProfiler Cross-site Scripting vulnerability","id":"CVE-2025-46729"},"products":["Mobile-Security-Framework-MobSF"],"published":"2025-05-05","related":[{"cvss_score":8.6,"headline":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) Allows Stored Cross Site Scripting (XSS) via malicious SVG Icon Upload","id":"CVE-2025-46335","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-05-05"},{"cvss_score":8.5,"headline":"Local Privilege Escalation in MobSF","id":"CVE-2025-24805","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-02-05"},{"cvss_score":8.4,"headline":"Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in MobSF","id":"CVE-2025-24803","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2025-02-05"},{"cvss_score":8.1,"headline":"MobSF has Stored XSS via Manifest Analysis - Dialer Code Host Field","id":"CVE-2026-24490","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-01-27"},{"cvss_score":8.1,"headline":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) Stored Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability in \"Diff or Compare\" Functionality","id":"CVE-2024-53999","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-12-03"},{"cvss_score":8,"headline":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) has a Zip Slip Vulnerability in .a Static Library Files","id":"CVE-2024-43399","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-08-19"},{"cvss_score":7.5,"headline":"Mobile Security Framework (MobSF) bypass of SSRF fix","id":"CVE-2024-54000","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-12-03"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"PyPA Advisory Database","prefix":"PYSEC"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"no","exploitation":"poc","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2025-05-05","vendors":["MobSF"]},"summary":"An attacker can cause server-wide denial of service by uploading a malicious ZIP bomb to MobSF, exhausting disk space on the hosting server.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2025-46730/"}
