What is CVE-2025-55558?

CVE-2025-55558 is a high-severity denial of service vulnerability in n/a, published on 25 Sep 2025. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

Official description

A buffer overflow occurs in pytorch v2.7.0 when a PyTorch model consists of torch.nn.Conv2d, torch.nn.functional.hardshrink, and torch.Tensor.view-torch.mv() and is compiled by Inductor, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS).

Weakness: CWE-400

Which versions are affected by CVE-2025-55558?

2 open source packages ship an affected version, including pytorch and torch. It affects 1 product.

PackageAffectedFixed in
pytorch BitnamiAll versions2.7.1
torch PyPIAll versions2.7.1

Products include Linuxfoundation Pytorch.

How do I fix CVE-2025-55558?

Upgrade pytorch to 2.7.1 or later.

Upgrade, then put limits on request size, rate and nesting depth so one client cannot exhaust the service. More about Denial of service.
