## What is CVE-2025-71319?

CVE-2025-71319 is a high-severity denial of service vulnerability in Redhat Enterprise Linux, published on 9 Jun 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

image-size through 2.0.2 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows remote attackers to permanently block the Node.js event loop by supplying a specially crafted image buffer with a zero-valued size field in a recognized box-type. Attackers can trigger an infinite loop in the JXL or HEIF image parsers by providing a crafted image containing a box with a size of zero, causing the offset to never advance and permanently hanging the application.

Weakness: CWE-835 (Loop with Unreachable Exit Condition)

Check this codebase for CVE-2025-71319 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2025-71319 is a high-severity denial of service vulnerability in Redhat Enterprise Linux, published on 9 Jun 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2025-71319 exists.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- image-size (npm): affected from 1.1.0; fixed in 1.2.1
- image-size (npm): affected from 1.1.0; fixed in 1.2.1
- image-size (npm): affected from 2.0.0; fixed in 2.0.2
- image-size (npm): affected from 2.0.0; fixed in 2.0.2

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
