## What is CVE-2026-115918?

CVE-2026-115918 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Vllm Vllm, published on 26 Oct 2026.

### Official description

vLLM is an inference and serving engine for large language models. From 0.16.0 until 0.32.0, the /v1/responses endpoint allows an authenticated caller to place an attacker-controlled template in chat_template_kwargs[chat_template] when no server template is configured. ChatParams.get_apply_chat_template_kwargs() preserves that value without enforcing trust_request_chat_template, so the request can bypass the intended trust policy and cause CPU or memory exhaustion through Jinja rendering. This issue is fixed in version 0.32.0.

Weakness: CWE-770 (Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling), CWE-400 (Uncontrolled Resource Consumption)

```text
Check this codebase for CVE-2026-115918 and fix it if it is affected.
What it is: CVE-2026-115918 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Vllm Vllm, published on 26 Oct 2026.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-115918 in the wild and no public exploit code.
Affected packages and fixed versions:
- vllm (PyPI): affected from 0.16.0; fixed in 0.32.0
- vllm (PyPI): affected from 0.16.0; fixed in 0.32.0
- vllm (PyPI): affected from 0.16.0; fixed in 0.32.0
Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
