## What is CVE-2026-116587?

CVE-2026-116587 is a high-severity vulnerability in go-jose, published on 26 Oct 2026.

### Official description

Go JOSE provides an implementation of the Javascript Object Signing and Encryption set of standards in Go, including support for JSON Web Encryption (JWE), JSON Web Signature (JWS), and JSON Web Token (JWT) standards. Prior to 4.1.6, go-jose parses attacker-controlled RSA modulus and prime values from JWKs without enforcing size and consistency bounds before passing them to crypto/rsa.PrivateKey.Validate. On Go 1.24 and later, crafted large or degenerate RSA parameters can make that validation consume cubic CPU time, allowing remote denial of service in applications that parse JWKs from untrusted sources. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.6.

Weakness: CWE-770 (Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling), CWE-407 (Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity)

Check this codebase for CVE-2026-116587 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2026-116587 is a high-severity vulnerability in go-jose, published on 26 Oct 2026.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-116587 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- github.com/go-jose/go-jose/v3 (Go): affected all versions up to 3.0.5; no fix listed
- github.com/go-jose/go-jose/v3 (Go): affected all versions up to 3.0.5; no fix listed
- github.com/go-jose/go-jose/v4 (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 4.1.6
- github.com/go-jose/go-jose/v4 (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 4.1.6

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
