## What is CVE-2026-116682?

CVE-2026-116682 is a high-severity vulnerability in gtsteffaniak filebrowser, published on 27 Oct 2026.

### Official description

FileBrowser Quantum is a free, self-hosted, web-based file manager. Prior to 1.5.2-stable and 2.0.1-beta, file read handling in backend/pkg/indexing/indexingFiles.go resolves symbolic links through GetRealPath without confirming that the resolved target remains inside the source root and the user's authorized scope. Download, preview, media, OnlyOffice, and public-share read flows that enable FollowSymlinks can therefore serve an out-of-scope target through a reachable in-scope symlink. An authenticated user with download access can read server-accessible files outside the assigned scope, and a holder of a public share link can do the same without an account when the shared directory exposes such a symlink. This issue is fixed in 1.5.2-stable and 2.0.1-beta.

Weakness: CWE-59 (Improper Link Resolution Before File Access), CWE-22 (Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory)

Check this codebase for CVE-2026-116682 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2026-116682 is a high-severity vulnerability in gtsteffaniak filebrowser, published on 27 Oct 2026.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-116682 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- github.com/gtsteffaniak/filebrowser/backend (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 0.0.0-20260814233832-4126edeb07a0
- github.com/gtsteffaniak/filebrowser/backend (Go): affected all versions; fixed in 0.0.0-20260814233832-4126edeb07a0

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
