## What is CVE-2026-13514?

CVE-2026-13514 is a low-severity vulnerability in Chess Play and Learn App, published on 28 Jun 2026. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

A weakness has been identified in Chess Play and Learn App up to 4.9.42 on Android. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file AndroidManifest.xml of the component com.chess. This manipulation causes exposure of backup file to an unauthorized control sphere. It is feasible to perform the attack on the physical device. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. Upgrading the affected component is advised. The vendor was informed early about this issue. They confirmed the existence and that they will address it. Furthermore, they explain that their bug bounty "explicitly excludes physical-access attacks". However, they appreciate the quality of the report and aim at making a goodwill payment to the researcher.

Weakness: CWE-530 (Exposure of Backup File to an Unauthorized Control Sphere), CWE-285 (Improper Authorization)

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
