What is CVE-2026-15310?

CVE-2026-15310 is a low-severity denial of service vulnerability in CPython, published on 25 Aug 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, and only if a user opens a file or follows a link.

Official description

When decompressing crafted zip files using the bzip/LZMA/Zstandard

compressions, Python could use an attacker-controlled size to

pre-allocate memory, possibly resulting in memory exhaustion.

Weakness: CWE-400

Upgrade libpython to a fixed version for your release line: 3.10.22, 3.11.17, 3.12.15 or 3.13.16.

Upgrade, then put limits on request size, rate and nesting depth so one client cannot exhaust the service. More about Denial of service.
