What is CVE-2026-1679?
CVE-2026-1679 is a high-severity memory corruption vulnerability in Zephyrproject Zephyr, published on 27 Mar 2026. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.
Official description
The eswifi socket offload driver copies user-provided payloads into a fixed buffer without checking available space; oversized sends overflow `eswifi->buf`, corrupting kernel memory (CWE-120). Exploit requires local code that can call the socket send API; no remote attacker can reach it directly.
Weakness: CWE-120
Which versions are affected by CVE-2026-1679?
It affects 1 product.
Products include Zephyrproject Zephyr.
How do I fix CVE-2026-1679?
No fix has been published for CVE-2026-1679 yet. Limit exposure of the affected software until one is available.
Upgrade to the fixed version. Memory-safe languages, compiler hardening and fuzzing prevent most new cases. More about Memory corruption.
Is CVE-2026-1679 being exploited?
It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2026-1679 exists.
