Any signed-in user can exploit it over the network, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2026-21696 exists.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- github.com/pterodactyl/wings (Go): affected from 1.7.0; fixed in 1.12.0\n- github.com/pterodactyl/wings (Go): affected from 1.7.0; fixed in 1.12.0\n- github.com/pterodactyl/wings (Go): affected from 1.7.0; fixed in 1.12.0\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-21696/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-21696/index.md)","id":"CVE-2026-21696","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-21696/index.md","name":"CVE-2026-21696","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-2497-gp99-2m74","GO-2026-4329"],"analysis":{"component_type":"server_software","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Game server control plane","requires_auth":"low_privilege","summary":"A low-privileged user can trigger infinite reprocessing of activity logs, exhausting panel database disk space and causing denial of service.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"denial_of_service"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[{"product":"wings","vendor":"pterodactyl"}],"cvss":{"score":8.3,"severity":"high","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:H","version":"4.0"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-770","name":"Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling"},{"id":"CWE-400","name":"Uncontrolled Resource Consumption"}],"description":"Wings is the server control plane for Pterodactyl, a free, open-source game server management panel. Starting in version 1.7.0 and prior to version 1.12.0, Wings does not consider SQLite max parameter limit when processing activity log entries allowing for low privileged user to trigger a condition that floods the panel with activity records. After Wings sends activity logs to the panel it deletes the processed activity entries from the wings SQLite database. However, it does not consider the max parameter limit of SQLite, 32766 as of SQLite 3.32.0. If wings attempts to delete more than 32766 entries from the SQLite database in one query, it triggers an error (SQL logic error: too many SQL variables (1)) and does not remove any entries from the database. These entries are then indefinitely re-processed and resent to the panel each time the cron runs. By successfully exploiting this vulnerability, an attacker can trigger a situation where wings will keep uploading the same activity data to the panel repeatedly (growing each time to include new activity) until the panels' database server runs out of disk space. Version 1.12.0 fixes the issue.","ecosystems":["Go"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"weaponised"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"Endless reprocessing/reupload of activity log data due to SQLite max parameters limit not being considered","id":"CVE-2026-21696","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"Go","product":null,"products":[],"type":"denial_of_service","year":"2026"},"n_packages":3,"n_references":3,"next":{"headline":"axios4go's Race Condition in Shared HTTP Client Allows Proxy Configuration Leak","id":"CVE-2026-21697"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.12.0"],"introduced":["1.7.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/pterodactyl/wings","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-2497-gp99-2m74"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.12.0"],"introduced":["1.7.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/pterodactyl/wings","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/pterodactyl/wings","source":"GHSA-2497-gp99-2m74"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["1.12.0"],"introduced":["1.7.0"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/pterodactyl/wings","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/pterodactyl/wings","source":"GO-2026-4329"}],"prev":{"headline":"Titra API Contains Mass Assignment Vulnerability","id":"CVE-2026-21695"},"products":["wings"],"published":"2026-01-19","related":[{"cvss_score":10,"headline":"Improper isolation of server file access in github.com/pterodactyl/wings","id":"CVE-2024-27102","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-03-13"},{"cvss_score":9.6,"headline":"Symbolic Link (Symlink) Following allowing the deletion of files and directories on the host system in wings","id":"CVE-2023-25168","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2023-02-08"},{"cvss_score":9.1,"headline":"Wings vulnerable to escape to host from installation container","id":"CVE-2023-32080","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2023-05-10"},{"cvss_score":8.5,"headline":"Arbitrary File Write/Read in Pterodactyl wings","id":"CVE-2024-34066","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2024-05-03"},{"cvss_score":8.4,"headline":"Symbolic Link (Symlink) Following in github.com/pterodactyl/wings","id":"CVE-2023-25152","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2023-02-08"},{"cvss_score":8.3,"headline":"Pterodactyl websocket endpoints have no visible rate limits or monitoring, allowing for DOS attacks","id":"CVE-2025-69199","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-01-19"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"Go Vulnerability Database","prefix":"GO"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"yes","exploitation":"poc","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2026-01-20","vendors":["pterodactyl"]},"summary":"A low-privileged user can trigger infinite reprocessing of activity logs, exhausting panel database disk space and causing denial of service.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-21696/"}
