It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim."},"fix_prompt":"Check this codebase for CVE-2026-31580 and fix it if it is affected.\n\nWhat it is: CVE-2026-31580 is a high-severity use after free vulnerability in Linux kernel, published on 24 Apr 2026. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-31580 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected product: Linux kernel. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-31580/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-31580/index.md)","id":"CVE-2026-31580","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-31580/index.md","name":"CVE-2026-31580","record":{"aliases":["BELL-CVE-2026-31580","DEBIAN-CVE-2026-31580","GHSA-g664-f62x-2rfm","ROOT-OS-DEBIAN-11-CVE-2026-31580","ROOT-OS-DEBIAN-12-CVE-2026-31580","ROOT-OS-UBUNTU-2204-CVE-2026-31580","ROOT-OS-UBUNTU-2404-CVE-2026-31580","UBUNTU-CVE-2026-31580"],"analysis":{"component_type":"kernel","fix_type":"patch","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"adjacent_or_local","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Linux kernel bcache","requires_auth":"low_privilege","summary":"A use-after-free in the Linux kernel bcache subsystem allows attackers to cause a system crash by stopping a device during superblock writes.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"use_after_free"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"Linux","cpe":[{"product":"linux_kernel","vendor":"linux"}],"cvss":{"score":7.8,"severity":"high","source":"nvd","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-416","name":"Use After Free"}],"description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nbcache: fix cached_dev.sb_bio use-after-free and crash\n\nIn our production environment, we have received multiple crash reports\nregarding libceph, which have caught our attention:\n\n```\n[6888366.280350] Call Trace:\n[6888366.280452] blk_update_request+0x14e/0x370\n[6888366.280561] blk_mq_end_request+0x1a/0x130\n[6888366.280671] rbd_img_handle_request+0x1a0/0x1b0 [rbd]\n[6888366.280792] rbd_obj_handle_request+0x32/0x40 [rbd]\n[6888366.280903] __complete_request+0x22/0x70 [libceph]\n[6888366.281032] osd_dispatch+0x15e/0xb40 [libceph]\n[6888366.281164] ? inet_recvmsg+0x5b/0xd0\n[6888366.281272] ? ceph_tcp_recvmsg+0x6f/0xa0 [libceph]\n[6888366.281405] ceph_con_process_message+0x79/0x140 [libceph]\n[6888366.281534] ceph_con_v1_try_read+0x5d7/0xf30 [libceph]\n[6888366.281661] ceph_con_workfn+0x329/0x680 [libceph]\n```\n\nAfter analyzing the coredump file, we found that the address of\ndc-\u003esb_bio has been freed.
