An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2026-33621 exists.\n\nAffected packages and fixed versions:\n- github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab (Go): affected from 0.7.7; fixed in 0.8.5\n- github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab (Go): affected from 0.7.7; fixed in 0.8.5\n- github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab (Go): affected from 0.7.7; fixed in 0.8.5\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-33621/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-33621/index.md)","id":"CVE-2026-33621","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-33621/index.md","name":"CVE-2026-33621","record":{"aliases":["GHSA-j65m-hv65-r264","GO-2026-4821"],"analysis":{"component_type":"server_software","fix_type":"upgrade","impacts":["denial_of_service","security_bypass"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":true,"product_category":"AI browser control server","requires_auth":"none","summary":"Missing rate limiting allows unbounded brute-force attacks against API tokens, potentially leading to service exhaustion or unauthorized access if tokens are weak.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"denial_of_service"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"GitHub_M","cpe":[{"product":"pinchtab","vendor":"pinchtab"}],"cvss":{"score":4.8,"severity":"medium","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-770","name":"Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling"},{"id":"CWE-290","name":"Authentication Bypass by Spoofing"}],"description":"PinchTab is a standalone HTTP server that gives AI agents direct control over a Chrome browser. PinchTab `v0.7.7` through `v0.8.4` contain incomplete request-throttling protections for auth-checkable endpoints. In `v0.7.7` through `v0.8.3`, a fully implemented `RateLimitMiddleware` existed in `internal/handlers/middleware.go` but was not inserted into the production HTTP handler chain, so requests were not subject to the intended per-IP throttle. In the same pre-`v0.8.4` range, the original limiter also keyed clients using `X-Forwarded-For`, which would have allowed client-controlled header spoofing if the middleware had been enabled. `v0.8.4` addressed those two issues by wiring the limiter into the live handler chain and switching the key to the immediate peer IP, but it still exempted `/health` and `/metrics` from rate limiting even though `/health` remained an auth-checkable endpoint when a token was configured. This issue weakens defense in depth for deployments where an attacker can reach the API, especially if a weak human-chosen token is used. It is not a direct authentication bypass or token disclosure issue by itself. PinchTab is documented as local-first by default and uses `127.0.0.1` plus a generated random token in the recommended setup. PinchTab's default deployment model is a local-first, user-controlled environment between the user and their agents; wider exposure is an intentional operator choice. This lowers practical risk in the default configuration, even though it does not by itself change the intrinsic base characteristics of the bug. This was fully addressed in `v0.8.5` by applying `RateLimitMiddleware` in the production handler chain, deriving the client address from the immediate peer IP instead of trusting forwarded headers by default, and removing the `/health` and `/metrics` exemption so auth-checkable endpoints are throttled as well.","ecosystems":["Go"],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"weaponised"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"PinchTab: Unapplied Rate Limiting Middleware Allows Unbounded Brute-Force of API Token","id":"CVE-2026-33621","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":"Go","product":null,"products":[],"type":"denial_of_service","year":"2026"},"n_packages":3,"n_references":3,"next":{"headline":"A PinchTab Security Policy Bypass in /wait Allows Arbitrary JavaScript Execution","id":"CVE-2026-33622"},"packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["0.8.5"],"introduced":["0.7.7"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab","purl":null,"source":"GHSA-j65m-hv65-r264"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["0.8.5"],"introduced":["0.7.7"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab","source":"GHSA-j65m-hv65-r264"},{"ecosystem":"Go","fixed":["0.8.5"],"introduced":["0.7.7"],"last_affected":[],"package":"github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/pinchtab/pinchtab","source":"GO-2026-4821"}],"prev":{"headline":"PinchTab: API Bearer Token Exposed in URL Query Parameter via Server Logs and Intermediary Systems","id":"CVE-2026-33620"},"products":["pinchtab"],"published":"2026-03-26","related":[{"cvss_score":7.5,"headline":"PinchTab: SSRF with Full Response Exfiltration via Download Handler","id":"CVE-2026-30834","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-03-07"},{"cvss_score":6.7,"headline":"PinchTab: OS Command Injection via Profile Name in Windows Cleanup Routine Enables Arbitrary Command Execution","id":"CVE-2026-33623","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-03-26"},{"cvss_score":6.1,"headline":"A PinchTab Security Policy Bypass in /wait Allows Arbitrary JavaScript Execution","id":"CVE-2026-33622","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-03-26"},{"cvss_score":5.8,"headline":"PinchTab has Blind SSRF via browser-side redirect bypass in /download URL validation","id":"CVE-2026-33081","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-03-20"},{"cvss_score":4.3,"headline":"PinchTab: API Bearer Token Exposed in URL Query Parameter via Server Logs and Intermediary Systems","id":"CVE-2026-33620","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-03-26"},{"cvss_score":4.1,"headline":"PinchTab has Unauthenticated Blind SSRF in Task Scheduler via Unvalidated callbackUrl","id":"CVE-2026-33619","kev_date_added":null,"published":"2026-03-26"}],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"GitHub Advisory Database","prefix":"GHSA"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CC BY 4.0","name":"Go Vulnerability Database","prefix":"GO"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"US public information, NVD API terms","name":"NVD"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"CWE Terms of Use","name":"CWE (MITRE)"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":"no","exploitation":"poc","technical_impact":"partial"},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2026-03-27","vendors":["pinchtab"]},"summary":"Missing rate limiting allows unbounded brute-force attacks against API tokens, potentially leading to service exhaustion or unauthorized access if tokens are weak.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-33621/"}
