## What is CVE-2026-41721?

CVE-2026-41721 is a medium-severity denial of service vulnerability in Spring Data Commons, published on 9 Jun 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

Spring Data Commons contains a vulnerability that can lead to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition if Spring Data Web Support is enabled in conjunction with a Controller method using @ProjectedPayload, when an attacker sends a specially crafted HTTP request that causes the application to allocate lots of memory.

Affected versions:
Spring Data Commons 4.0.0 through 4.0.5; 3.5.0 through 3.5.11; 3.4.0 through 3.4.14; 3.3.0 through 3.3.16; 3.2.0 through 3.2.15; 3.1.0 through 3.1.14; 3.0.0 through 3.0.15; 2.7.0 through 2.7.19.

Weakness: CWE-400 (Uncontrolled Resource Consumption)

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
