## What is CVE-2026-44179?

CVE-2026-44179 is a critical vulnerability in xwikisas xwiki-pro-macros, published on 28 Oct 2026.

### Official description

XWiki Remote Macros provides XWiki rendering macros that are useful when migrating content from Confluence. From 1.13 until 1.14.5, the `excerpt-include` macro does not properly escape the included page's title and executes `excerpt` content with the macro's rights. The title handling in `xwiki-pro-macros-ui/src/main/resources/Confluence/Macros/ExcerptInclude.xml` and the rendering of `excerpt` content into XWiki syntax both allow syntax injection. Any user able to edit a page, even without script or programming rights, can supply executable macro syntax in the title or `excerpt` and cause remote code execution when the page is included. This affects confidentiality, integrity and availability of the whole XWiki installation. This issue is fixed in version 1.14.5.

Weakness: CWE-95 (Improper Neutralization of Directives in Dynamically Evaluated Code)

Check this codebase for CVE-2026-44179 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2026-44179 is a critical vulnerability in xwikisas xwiki-pro-macros, published on 28 Oct 2026.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-44179 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- com.xwiki.pro:xwiki-pro-macros (Maven): affected from 1.13; fixed in 1.14.5
- com.xwiki.pro:xwiki-pro-macros (Maven): affected from 1.13; fixed in 1.14.5

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
