## What is CVE-2026-44432?

CVE-2026-44432 is a high-severity denial of service vulnerability in urllib3, published on 13 May 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

urllib3 is an HTTP client library for Python. From 2.6.0 to before 2.7.0, urllib3 could decompress the whole response instead of the requested portion (1) during the second HTTPResponse.read(amt=N) call when the response was decompressed using the official Brotli library or (2) when HTTPResponse.drain_conn() was called after the response had been read and decompressed partially (compression algorithm did not matter here). These issues could cause urllib3 to fully decode a small amount of highly compressed data in a single operation. This could result in excessive resource consumption (high CPU usage and massive memory allocation for the decompressed data) on the client side. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.7.0.

Weakness: CWE-409 (Improper Handling of Highly Compressed Data (Data Amplification))

Check this codebase for CVE-2026-44432 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2026-44432 is a high-severity denial of service vulnerability in urllib3, published on 13 May 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-44432 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- urllib3 (PyPI): affected from 2.6.0; fixed in 2.7.0
- urllib3 (PyPI): affected from 2.6.0; fixed in 2.7.0
- urllib3 (PyPI): affected from 2.6.0; fixed in 2.7.0

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
