## What is CVE-2026-48710?

CVE-2026-48710 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Redhat Satellite, published on 26 May 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

Starlette is a lightweight ASGI framework/toolkit. Prior to version 1.0.1, the HTTP `Host` request header was not validated before being used to reconstruct `request.url`. Because the routing algorithm relies on the raw HTTP path while `request.url` is rebuilt from the `Host` header, a malformed header could make `request.url.path` differ from the path that was actually requested. Middleware and endpoints that apply security restrictions based on `request.url` (rather than the raw `scope` path) could therefore be bypassed. Users should upgrade to a version greater than or equal to version 1.0.1, which validates the `Host` header against the grammar of RFC 9112 §3.2 / RFC 3986 §3.2.2 when constructing `request.url` and falls back to `scope["server"]` for malformed values.

Weakness: CWE-1289 (Improper Validation of Unsafe Equivalence in Input), CWE-444 (Inconsistent Interpretation of HTTP Requests)

## Fix prompt for AI coding agents

```text
Check this codebase for CVE-2026-48710 and fix it if it is affected.
What it is: CVE-2026-48710 is a medium-severity vulnerability in Redhat Satellite, published on 26 May 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: Yes. Attackers have exploited CVE-2026-48710 in the wild since at least 2 Sep 2026.
Affected packages and fixed versions:
- starlette (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 1.0.1
- starlette (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 1.0.1
- starlette (PyPI): affected all versions; fixed in 1.0.1
Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
