An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-53186 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected product: Linux kernel. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-53186/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-53186/index.md)","id":"CVE-2026-53186","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-53186/index.md","name":"CVE-2026-53186","record":{"aliases":["AZL-90434","BELL-CVE-2026-53186","DEBIAN-CVE-2026-53186","GHSA-fxr4-2qh7-r53g","ROOT-OS-DEBIAN-11-CVE-2026-53186","ROOT-OS-DEBIAN-12-CVE-2026-53186","ROOT-OS-UBUNTU-2204-CVE-2026-53186","ROOT-OS-UBUNTU-2404-CVE-2026-53186","UBUNTU-CVE-2026-53186"],"analysis":{"component_type":"kernel","fix_type":"patch","impacts":["denial_of_service"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Linux kernel RDMA","requires_auth":"none","summary":"A malicious SRP target can cause a kernel crash by triggering an out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel's RDMA/SRP driver via crafted response lengths.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"memory_corruption"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"Linux","cpe":[{"product":"linux_kernel","vendor":"linux"}],"cvss":{"score":9.1,"severity":"critical","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-125","name":"Out-of-bounds Read"}],"description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nRDMA/srp: bound SRP_RSP sense copy by the received length\n\nsrp_process_rsp() copies sense data from rsp-\u003edata + resp_data_len,\nwhere resp_data_len is the full 32-bit value supplied by the SRP target\nand is never checked against the number of bytes actually received\n(wc-\u003ebyte_len). The copy length is bounded to SCSI_SENSE_BUFFERSIZE, so\nat most 96 bytes are copied, but the source offset is not bounded.\n\nA malicious or compromised SRP target on the InfiniBand/RoCE fabric that\nthe initiator has logged into can return an SRP_RSP with\nSRP_RSP_FLAG_SNSVALID set and a large resp_data_len. The receive buffer\nis allocated at the target-chosen max_ti_iu_len, so the source of the\nsense copy lands past the bytes actually received; with resp_data_len\nnear 0xFFFFFFFF it is gigabytes past the buffer and the read faults.\n\nCopy the sense data only if it has not been truncated, that is, only if\nthe response header, the response data, and the sense region fit within\nthe bytes actually received; otherwise drop the sense and log.
