## What is CVE-2026-54640?

CVE-2026-54640 is a high-severity vulnerability in io.openremote openremote, published on 13 Oct 2026.

### Official description

OpenRemote is an open-source internet-of-things platform. Prior to 1.24.2, the KNXProtocol.startAssetImport method in agent/src/main/java/org/openremote/agent/protocol/knx/KNXProtocol.java processes 0.xml from an authenticated user's uploaded ETS project ZIP with Saxon TransformerFactoryImpl and XMLInputFactory parsers that permit external entity resolution. This incomplete remediation of CVE-2026-40882 leaves the KNX handler unprotected while the parallel Velbus handler is hardened, allowing a regular realm user to read files accessible to the JVM process or cause server-side requests. This issue is fixed in version 1.24.2.

Weakness: CWE-611 (Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference)

Check this codebase for CVE-2026-54640 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2026-54640 is a high-severity vulnerability in io.openremote openremote, published on 13 Oct 2026.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-54640 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- io.openremote:openremote-agent (Maven): affected all versions; fixed in 1.24.2
- io.openremote:openremote-agent (Maven): affected all versions; fixed in 1.24.2

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
