What is CVE-2026-57204?
CVE-2026-57204 is a medium-severity denial of service vulnerability in Pypdf Project Pypdf, published on 30 Jun 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.
Official description
pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.13.3, a maliciously crafted PDF can cause DoS. An attacker who uses this vulnerability can craft a PDF which leads to large memory usage, as MAX_DECLARED_STREAM_LENGTH is sometimes ignored. This requires parsing a content stream without a /Length value. This issue has been fixed in version 6.13.3.
Weakness: CWE-400
Which versions are affected by CVE-2026-57204?

How do I fix CVE-2026-57204?
Upgrade pypdf to 6.13.3 or later.
Upgrade, then put limits on request size, rate and nesting depth so one client cannot exhaust the service. More about Denial of service.
Is CVE-2026-57204 being exploited?
