CVE-2026-72414 net: dsa: sja1105: round up PTP perout pin duration

What is CVE-2026-72414?
CVE-2026-72414 is a denial of service vulnerability in Linux, published on 15 Aug 2026. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, with no action from the victim.
Official description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net: dsa: sja1105: round up PTP perout pin duration
pin_duration is converted from the user-provided period to SJA1105 clock ticks and is later passed as the cycle_time argument to future_base_time().
Very small period values may become zero after the conversion, which can lead to a division by zero in future_base_time().
Round zero pin_duration up to 1 tick so that the smallest unsupported periods use the minimum non-zero hardware duration instead of passing zero to future_base_time().
Which versions are affected by CVE-2026-72414?
How do I fix CVE-2026-72414?
Apply the vendor's patch.
Upgrade, then put limits on request size, rate and nesting depth so one client cannot exhaust the service. More about Denial of service.
Is CVE-2026-72414 being exploited?
There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-72414 in the wild and no public exploit code.
