## What is CVE-2026-72895?

CVE-2026-72895 is a high-severity vulnerability in Siemens SIMATIC IPC BX-21A, published on 13 Oct 2026. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, and only if a user opens a file or follows a link.

### Official description

A vulnerability has been identified in SIMATIC IPC BX-21A (All versions < V31.01.13), SIMATIC IPC RW-543A (All versions < V1.1.4), SIMATIC IPC227G / IPC277G / IPC277G PRO / IPC327G / IPC377G (All versions < V28.01.15). A BIOS vendor test key is present in the UEFI Secure Boot key database. This could allow a local attacker with physical or administrative access to the device to boot an operating system or UEFI application signed with that test key, bypassing UEFI Secure Boot protections even when Secure Boot is enabled, potentially leading to a full loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the device.

Weakness: CWE-1394 (Use of Default Cryptographic Key)

What it is: CVE-2026-72895 is a high-severity vulnerability in Siemens SIMATIC IPC BX-21A, published on 13 Oct 2026. It can only be exploited from the same machine or local network, and only if a user opens a file or follows a link.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-72895 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected product: Siemens SIMATIC IPC BX-21A. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
