An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, with no action from the victim.\nExploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-74665 in the wild and no public exploit code.\n\nAffected product: Linux. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.\n\nTask:\n1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.\n2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.\n3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.\n4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.\n5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.\n\nReference: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-74665/ (Markdown: https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-74665/index.md)","id":"CVE-2026-74665","markdown":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-74665/index.md","name":"CVE-2026-74665","record":{"aliases":["BELL-CVE-2026-74665","DEBIAN-CVE-2026-74665","GHSA-2vgp-f9r9-4w6f","UBUNTU-CVE-2026-74665"],"analysis":{"component_type":"kernel","fix_type":"patch","impacts":["data_read"],"network_reachable":"yes","non_default_config":false,"product_category":"Linux kernel","requires_auth":"none","summary":"A Linux kernel bug in generic XDP allows attackers to read kernel memory, including pointers, via crafted UDP packets.","user_interaction":"not_required","vuln_class":"information_disclosure"},"analysis_generated_by":"qwen3.8-flash-next","assigner":"Linux","cpe":[],"cvss":{"score":9.1,"severity":"critical","source":"cna","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","version":"3.1"},"cwes":[],"description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\nnet: fix skb length accounting after generic XDP frag adjustment\n\nGeneric XDP exposes non-linear skb fragments through an xdp_buff. If an\nXDP program adjusts the fragment area, bpf_prog_run_generic_xdp() copies\nxdp_frags_size back to skb-\u003edata_len but leaves skb-\u003elen containing the\nold fragment contribution.\n\nAfter a fragment shrink, this makes skb_headlen() larger than the actual\nlinear area. In the reproduced UDP receive path, __skb_datagram_iter()\ncopied 1024 bytes past the actual linear tail to userspace, starting at\nstruct skb_shared_info. The copied bytes included the affected skb's\nnr_frags, xdp_frags_size and a kernel pointer from\nskb_shinfo(skb)-\u003efrags[0]. Real packet data was displaced by the same\namount and truncated at the end.\n\nSubtract the old data_len before replacing it and add the new data_len\nafterwards, keeping skb-\u003elen and skb-\u003edata_len synchronized.\n\nA 60000-byte UDP datagram on a veth pair with MTU 64000 was shortened by\n1024 bytes from its fragment area. Before the fix, all 10 runs produced\ncorrupted payloads. After the fix, all 10 runs matched the expected\npayload exactly.","ecosystems":[],"exploits":{"exploitdb":0,"first_seen":null,"github_poc":0,"max_poc_stars":null,"metasploit":0,"nuclei":0,"refs":[],"tier":"none_known"},"has_fix":true,"headline":"net: fix skb length accounting after generic XDP frag adjustment","id":"CVE-2026-74665","indexable":true,"kev":null,"kind":"cve","links":{"ecosystem":null,"product":null,"products":[],"type":"information_disclosure","year":"2026"},"n_packages":0,"n_references":4,"next":{"headline":"packet: synchronize pressure clearing with ring reconfiguration","id":"CVE-2026-74666"},"packages":[],"prev":{"headline":"net: openvswitch: reallocate update replies for mismatched IDs","id":"CVE-2026-74664"},"products":["Linux"],"published":"2026-08-22","related":[],"sources":[{"class":"attribution","licence":"CVE Terms of Use (MITRE)","name":"CVE List","prefix":"CVE"},{"class":"attribution","licence":"FIRST CVSS licence","name":"CVSS (FIRST)"}],"ssvc":{"automatable":null,"exploitation":null,"technical_impact":null},"state":"PUBLISHED","updated":"2026-08-25","vendors":["Linux"]},"summary":"A Linux kernel bug in generic XDP allows attackers to read kernel memory, including pointers, via crafted UDP packets.","url":"https://insights.sbomify.com/CVE-2026-74665/"}
