## What is CVE-2026-76418?

CVE-2026-76418 is a high-severity vulnerability in Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software, published on 28 Oct 2026.

### Official description

A vulnerability in the Remote Access SSL VPN service of Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause the device to reload unexpectedly, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition. This vulnerability is due to logic errors when secondary authentication is configured on a tunnel group. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted request when connecting to the SSL remote access VPN. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause the affected device to reload, resulting in a DoS condition.

Weakness: CWE-690 (Unchecked Return Value to NULL Pointer Dereference)

What it is: CVE-2026-76418 is a high-severity vulnerability in Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software, published on 28 Oct 2026.
Exploitation: Yes. Attackers have exploited CVE-2026-76418 in the wild since at least 29 Oct 2026.

Affected product: Cisco Secure Firewall Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
