## What is CVE-2026-85985?

CVE-2026-85985 is a medium-severity missing authorization vulnerability in Mariadb Mariadb, published on 16 Oct 2026. Any signed-in user can exploit it over the network, with no action from the victim.

### Official description

MariaDB server is a community developed fork of MySQL server. From 10.6.1 until 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2, the CONNECT engine plugin file-access UDFs json_file(), bson_file(), jfile_make(), bfile_make(), and jbin_file() are affected because each does not enforce FILE privilege or the secure_file_priv setting. A low-privileged attacker can trigger the issue by calling a CONNECT file-access UDF with a filesystem path, then invoke a CONNECT file-access UDF to access a filesystem path and read or write files that the database account is not authorized to access, subject to operating-system permissions. This issue is fixed in versions 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, and 13.0.2.

Weakness: CWE-862 (Missing Authorization)

Check this codebase for CVE-2026-85985 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2026-85985 is a medium-severity missing authorization vulnerability in Mariadb Mariadb, published on 16 Oct 2026. Any signed-in user can exploit it over the network, with no action from the victim.
Exploitation: There is no known exploitation of CVE-2026-85985 in the wild and no public exploit code.

Affected packages and fixed versions:
- mariadb (Bitnami): affected from 10.6.1; fixed in 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, 13.0.2
- mariadb-min (Bitnami): affected from 10.6.1; fixed in 10.6.28, 10.11.19, 11.4.13, 11.8.9, 12.3.3, 13.0.2

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
