## What is CVE-2026-86288?

CVE-2026-86288 is a medium-severity memory corruption vulnerability in ModelCloud GPTQModel, published on 7 Sep 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, and only if a user opens a file or follows a link.

### Official description

A vulnerability has been found in ModelCloud GPTQModel up to 7.2.0. This vulnerability affects unknown code of the file gptqmodel/nn_modules/qlinear/tritonv2.py of the component Triton dequantization kernel. Such manipulation of the argument g_idx leads to out-of-bounds read. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. Upgrading to version 7.3.0 is able to resolve this issue. The name of the patch is 877c732f7d7dccd56a729844c6a5bd20f3aa8bb1. Upgrading the affected component is recommended.

Weakness: CWE-125 (Out-of-bounds Read), CWE-119 (Improper Restriction of Operations within the Bounds of a Memory Buffer)

Check this codebase for CVE-2026-86288 and fix it if it is affected.

What it is: CVE-2026-86288 is a medium-severity memory corruption vulnerability in ModelCloud GPTQModel, published on 7 Sep 2026. An attacker can exploit it over the internet without logging in, and only if a user opens a file or follows a link.
Exploitation: It is not confirmed as exploited in the wild, but public exploit code for CVE-2026-86288 exists.

Affected product: ModelCloud GPTQModel. No package-level version data is available, so check the vendor advisory linked from the reference page.

Task:
1. Search the dependency manifests and lockfiles (for example package.json, package-lock.json, requirements.txt, poetry.lock, uv.lock, pom.xml, build.gradle, go.mod, Cargo.lock, Gemfile.lock) and any Dockerfiles for the affected packages, including transitive dependencies.
2. If an affected version is in use, upgrade it to the fixed version for its release line with the project's package manager, so the lockfile is regenerated. Prefer the smallest upgrade that fixes it.
3. If there is no fix, or the upgrade would break the build, do not guess: explain the risk and the safest workaround instead.
4. Run the tests and summarise what changed and why.
5. If nothing in the project is affected, say so and change nothing.
